Starting with a dreamy and fairytale castle, Neuschwanstein Castle of Germany is the best castle one would see in Europe. Located in Bavaria, in a small village called Hohenschwangau, this castle was owned by King Ludwig also known as the ‘Fairytale King’ in his time. The place draws more than 1 million visitors every year. Tourists can see the castle by taking a 35 minute guided tour.
The next on our list is the Chateau de Chambord. This is a beautiful castle located in Chambord of France. The castle revolves around the Renaissance style of construction. It took around 28 years to build this beautiful fort. This design inspires a number of architects and a number of places were built with a similar design.
On number 3 we have the Hampton Court Palace of England. This castle is built upstream on the River Thames of London. Even though the palace is open to the public and attracts a number of tourists, it is under the ownership of Queen Elizabeth. One can enjoy the great Hampton Court Palace Festival and the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show at the place. You can even enjoy the beautiful artwork of the Royal Collection at the palace. The chapel of the palace is one major attraction as it is considered the most magnificent in Britain.
Next is the Mont Saint Michel, located in Normandy of France. This castle has been marked as a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1979. It is circular in shape and has a circumference of around 900 meters. It will take around 2 hours to explore the palace completely.
Edinburgh Castle is number five on the list of the best castles to visit. Located in the capital of Scotland, it is the second most visited paid attraction in the United Kingdom. The castle is built on a volcanic rock with interiors containing things in order to honor loved ones.
