In this blog, Rubina Ratnakar lists 6 abandoned places in the world.

On number 1 we have the Dundas Castle of New York. It was built by an architect named Bradford Gilbert for his beloved wife. Before the castle was complete, the architect died and his wife went to a sanatorium. It is believed that the ghost of the architect’s wife roams in the halls of the castle.

Next, we have Basilicata located in South Italy. The town is located at a site that is prone to floods, landslides and the agriculture of the place is very poor. Due to these extremities, the place has been abandoned.

The next on our list is Ghost Town of Bodie located in California, USA. It is also known as a ‘sin city’. It was a popular city that had a number of gold and silver deposits. Once the place went out of resources, it was abandoned.

On number 4 we have, Hashami Island of Japan, also known as the Battleship Island. The place used to be rich in coal resources and was abandoned once the place went out of resources.

On number 5, we have the beautiful hotel, Tequendama Falls Hotel. This hotel is located near a beautiful waterfall and devastated due to the contamination of the river water. The place is said to be haunted as well.

The next is Isla de las Munecas, located in Mexico. The story behind this place is that a caretaker of the island found the dead body of a girl in a canal. To appease her spirit, he started hanging dolls around the island. Surprisingly, the caretaker was found dead in the same spot the girl was found.
